"Sharma" from Buddhist Shramanas - By DR SL Dhani

Nikhil, I invite your considered comments on the following extracts from the FB just extracted? • Jon Tsung-Tao Hill
Shariputra asked: "When a follower attains the great insight of perfect wisdom, does that follower then covet and cultivate omniscience, infinite knowledge?"

The Buddha answered: "Such a follower never covets or cultivates infinite knowledge. That very attitude of not coveting and not cultivating reveals everything to him and he sees all possible structures--from objects of the senses to buddhas--to be transparent in their nature. This radiant transparency is, in fact, simply the total awakeness of a buddha. The now-awakened follower becomes, in this way, immersed in infinite wisdom and blossoms spontaneously as omniscience itself."

How many Indians realize the possibilities (1) that Hindu Brahmanas adopted their most popular titler "sharma" from Buddhist Shramanas, (2) That today's Sharmas could be ancient Buddhisat Sharmanas, (3) that both the Buddhist Shramanas and Hindu Brahmanas have decided to sustain themselves on the unearned wealth collected from others in the form of daana, dakshinaa and bhikshaa, on the pattern prescribed by Hindu scripture Manusmriti? About morals, I know only that what is moral is what you feel good after and what is immoral is what you feel bad after.

Sukh Lal Dhani Different religions have got different and contradictory definitions of morality. Even among the Sikhs there is a controversy in this behalf with reference to Dasam Granth believed to have been authored by the tenth Guru Gobind Singh. The same is true of sadachar or good conduct. There are religious leaders in all religions who try to mislead all concerned that all religions have the same and similar teachings.
